Miriam Deems
YOGA
Miriam believes yoga practice, in all its forms, can transform the way we move through life. Miriam began practicing asana and meditation in 1993 and was certified to teach in 2004 by Vidya Jacqueline Hiesel. Miriam’s history of teaching is steeped in Iyengar, Astanga, and Vinyasa Flow yoga as well as slower more meditative practices like Yin, Restorative, and Yoga Nidra. In addition to her yoga background, she draws from 20+ years of experience as a bodywork therapist and her training in allopathic medicine as an RN. Her classes are supportive, challenging, and expansive. Miriam holds advanced certifications in Trauma-informed Breathwork facilitation and the ancient practice of Yoga Nidra in which she has spent a decade of deep practice and study. Miriam also teaches anatomy for YAM’s 200-hour yoga teacher training. 500 RYT, LMBT, RN.
BODYWORK
Miriam began studying bodywork and massage therapy in 2004. After her initial massage therapy training, Miriam further specialized in Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release, trigger point therapy, cupping, Craniosacral Therapy, and deep tissue massage. Miriam’s unique style of bodywork is informed by her background in yoga, her training as a registered nurse, and her study of human anatomy. Miriam seamlessly blends multiple modalities creating sessions designed to facilitate lasting change in the body. She believes that when our bodies feel restored, open, and free from pain, we are able to better live in alignment with our true purpose. RYT-500, LMBT #11308, RN
