Miranda Watson
As a dancer, Miranda was initially drawn to yoga for its physical benefits but
discovered that it also helped her to manage stress, quiet the mind, and align with
her center. Yoga felt like coming home. She developed a daily practice, became a
certified yoga instructor through Asheville Yoga Center in 2019, and has been
practicing yoga for over 22 years.
Miranda has been influenced by Vinyasa, Iyengar, Yin, and Viniyoga styles of yoga
which have helped shape her emphasis on breathwork and linking breath with
movement, healthy alignment, addressing the connective tissues as well as the
muscles, and personalizing one’s practice to maximize yoga’s therapeutic benefits.
In her classes, Miranda thoughtfully creates class sequences that prepare the body for
greater opening and strengthening. She seeks to hold space for students to release
stress and tension, find their center, and listen to their inner guidance. She
incorporates themes drawn from the wisdoms of yoga philosophy and diverse spiritual
traditions that relate to the human condition and our shared desire to experience a
deepened sense of connection and peace.
Miranda has a bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology and a master’s degree in
education. She has taught over 1,200 hours of yoga, is certified to teach continuing
education for yoga instructors, and anticipates completing her 300-hour YTT in 2023,
making her an E-RYT 500 hour, YACEP instructor. In addition to teaching group yoga,
she enjoys customizing private yoga for individuals and private events. She also
teaches kid yoga at area schools. Miranda enjoys the close-to-nature lifestyle of living
out in the country with her husband, two children, and two pets. She loves to read
books about yoga and spirituality, cook, write, garden, dance, hike, and take long
walks with family and friends.
