Marian Soss
Marian encourages her students to feel better physically and mentally and enjoy movement through a variety of exercises. Her SilverSneakers Classic teachings highlight the importance of improving muscle strength, range of motion, and daily living skills.
She first discovered yoga in San Francisco after the birth of her first daughter twenty-two years ago caused her to have back pain. Marian’s practice has grown since then and she now also teaches the Viniyoga style of Hatha Yoga. Yoga not only strengthened and aligned her back, but gave her newfound peace of mind. Yoga strengthens physically, mentally, and spiritually, and provides courage to do one’s very best. Her yoga teachings inspire wellness by tapping into the higher power through spiritual meditation and breathing.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Drama at UNC Asheville, she went on to receive her YMCA National Fitness Certification in 2009. Marian taught Senior Fitness group exercise classes at Reuter YMCA in Asheville, NC for five years. In 2011, she became a SilverSneakers Fitness Instructor and studied Senior Yoga Teacher Training and Advanced Studies under Stephanie Keach, Wendy Gilliland, and Libby Hinsley at Asheville Yoga Center. Marian has also studied through Yoga Fit and is a registered Yoga Alliance Teacher (RYT 500).
Marian specializes in gentle yoga through use of breathing techniques, supported poses, and meditation that focuses on the individual.
